Multi-parameter e-skin based on biomimetic mechanoreceptors and stress field sensing

Abstract Tactile sensing has been a key challenge in robotic haptics. Inspired by how human skin sense the stress field with layered structure and distributed mechanoreceptors, we herein propose design for modular multi-parameter perception electronic skin. With concept, complex tactile signals can be transformed into information. By analyzing field, real-time three-dimensional forces resolved 1.8° polar angle resolution 3.5° azimuthal (achieved up to 71 folds of improvement spatial resolution), also detect hardness object contact Moreover, demonstrate random assembly arrays integration our onto differently curved surfaces do not lead any measurement variation field. This result reveals that elements system modularly made exchanged specific applications.
